Nobel Peace prize 2010 award ceremony held without winner Liu Xiaobo.

                                                  




The Nobel Peace Prize committee  awarded  Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo of China, who is serving a jail term presently. 


United States President Barack Obama said that Liu symbolized universal values and urged China to release him as soon as likely.


Liu was symbolized at the ceremony by a vacant chair as he is serving an 11 years prison sentence in China for undermining state power. China has also placed his wife under house arrest, thus she could not attend in his place.
